Ayew Departs as Swansea City announce retained list

Swansea City have announced their retained list following the end of the 2020/21 season and have confirmed the departure of Andre Ayew, Declan John, Kieron Freeman and Barrie McKay, whereas Wayne Routledge has been offered a new one-year-deal to remain at the club.

Andre Ayew had finished each of the last two seasons under Steve Cooper as the club's top-scorer and will be leaving difficult shoes to fill as he leaves South Wales. Across his two stints at the club, the Ghanaian has scored 43 goals from 133 appearances and will be sorely missed by the Swansea faithful.

Jordi Govea, Ryan Bevan, Matthew Blake, Bradley Gibbins, Alex Rutter and Jake Thomas have all also left the academy ranks and departed the club.

Scott Butler and Michael Murphy have been offered their first professional contracts whilst Ali Al-Hamadi, Jacob Jones and Jamie Searle have each been offered fresh terms.

Retained: Adrian Akande, Steven Benda, Ryan Bennett, Jake Bidwell, George Byers, Ben Cabango, Rio Campbell, Brandon Cooper, Ollie Cooper, Liam Cullen, Yan Dhanda, Cameron Evans, Jay Fulton, Jordon Garrick, Josh Gould, Matt Grimes, Ben Hamer, Harry Jones, Joel Latibeaudiere, Jamal Lowe, Ryan Manning, Lincoln McFayden, Kyle Naughton, Connor Roberts, Tivonge Rushesha, Korey Smith, Josh Thomas, Lewis Webb, Morgan Whittaker, Daniel Williams.
